Give in to the Groove

A journey to Bavaria

In July 2025, Ana Mighty Sound embarked on a European road trip, traveling through France, Belgium, Germany, Poland, and Lithuania to connect with some of our esteemed partners.

Our journey led us to Deining, Bavaria, to visit the headquarters of AMG.

AMG, which stands for Analog Manufaktur Germany, is a family-owned German manufacturer that blends the precision of fine watchmaking with advanced technology to create high-end turntables and tonearms. At their core, they cultivate extreme precision and long-lasting durability.

A Legacy of Craftsmanship

Founded in 2011 by Werner Röschlau, a mechanical engineer and pilot, the company was born out of his dual passions for precision mechanics and analog audio. Since 2013, his son, Julian Lorenzi, has been leading AMG, continuing the family legacy with a strong dose of innovation and an unwavering focus on build quality.

Julian Lorenzi and his team live by a clear motto: "The Art of Precision". Every product is crafted with the meticulous care of a timepiece, built to last. With the exception of the wooden plinths, the entire production process, from machining aluminum parts to fabricating cartridge clips, cables, and tonearm tubes, is completed entirely in-house in Germany, within AMG's own workshops.

This extreme level of quality control and craftsmanship is the result of developing a truly unique skill set. At AMG, even the motors are hand-wound. Owning an AMG product means experiencing uncompromising craftsmanship at its absolute finest!

AMG utilizes advanced CNC machines capable of manufacturing large aluminum parts; the new Ventus phono stage is made internally using this very equipment.

A glimpse at some of the specialized tools used in their daily operations.

Right: The finish is simply breathtaking. Here is the top of the Ventus phono stage waiting patiently for assembly.

Cartridge wiring and clips are meticulously made by hand, waiting to be mounted.

An Exclusive Interview with AMG

During our visit, we had the privilege of sitting down for an interview with AMG. They answered our questions with remarkable frankness and humility. Here is what they had to share:

  1. What is the story behind the brand and the vision that drives you today?

AMG was founded with the aim of creating exceptional audio technology that meets the highest standards of sound quality, design, and craftsmanship. The founder, Werner Röschlau wanted to establish a brand that relies on analogue technology. The vision of Analog Manufaktur Germany is to maximize the true sound of each LP by thoughtful techhnolgies, precise workmanship and a design that reflects the focus to the essentials. The quality of materials and the precision of manufacturing is one oft he main goals. We also try to source everything we cannot produce ourselves, such as the wooden frame, from the local area.

  1. What sonic philosophy guides your technical and aesthetic choices?

The idea of AMG is, to transport the music in the most originaland detailed way. All products are technically desined to alter the sound as little as possible. The aesthetic choices also follow a clear and direct design.

  1. What technologies or innovations clearly set you apart from the competitors?

Our special innovations are the 2-point bearing with the tonearm's spring rods which is a special development of ours that we also patented back then. Also the very stable turntable bearing running completely in an oil bath is something special about AMG. The screw-on record clamp with the rise in the middle was also originally a development of ours. Another point is, that we produce more parts in house than most competitors do. That makes us able to have minimal tolerances and react very fast to changes in materials or custom wishes.

  1. Where and how are your products manufactured?

Most of the products are manufactured by us in small quantities. We produce using both manual and CNC machines. This allows us to make fine adjustments for each device produced. This not only guarantees a long lifespan but also exceptional performance, which is often lost in pure machine manufacturing, reflecting in the sound quality.

  1. What does your personal listening experience with your products look like?

  1. Do you partner with other brands of have advice to match your products ?

Phono cartridge recommendation: François (Sculpture A), Hana, Benz.

  1. What type of audiophile or music lover are you aiming to reach?

All audiophiles and music lovers who have a strong interest in analog music playback and prioritize sound fidelity and detail accuracy above all else. We want to inpire people who seek both technical know-how and an emotional connection to music.

  1. What advice would you give to a music lover ?

The most important advice for music lovers is to invest patience and time in order to experience music in its best form. Taking the time to find the right personal system and taking time to enjoy the piece of music in peace. It doesn't always have to be the biggest and most expensive device; everything should be coordinated and should appeal to the individual music lover.

  1. How do you see high-end audio evolving in the years to come?

In the coming years, the trend towards custom might get over to more handmade products and the desire for musical authenticity could continue to grow in the high-end audio world. It seems to attract moire interest of younger people and women, too.

It was so nice meeting you Julian and Carola !!
