A compact loudspeaker designed to master the room

The Silent Pound Bloom embodies professional engineering in a three-way constant-directivity loudspeaker. It brings together professional-grade drive units, a particularly accomplished acoustic architecture and a sculptural design that makes no attempt to disguise its purpose.

Bloom is not merely a scaled-down Challenger II. It translates Silent Pound’s philosophy into a more easily integrated format, designed for small to medium-sized rooms and near- to mid-field listening. Despite a footprint of just 31 × 31 cm, each loudspeaker accommodates two 300 mm woofers in a dipole configuration and a 200 mm coaxial transducer combining the midrange with a 1.4-inch compression driver.

The result is unusual: the scale, dynamics and freedom of a large loudspeaker, without the visual bulk or excessive room excitation that often comes with it.

Constant directivity from bass to treble

Every loudspeaker sends part of its energy towards the walls, floor and ceiling. These reflections combine with the direct sound and may blur timbres, displace performers within the soundstage or make tonal balance highly dependent on the room.

Silent Pound addresses this issue at the source. Bloom’s architecture progressively controls dispersion across the frequency spectrum:

• the two 300 mm woofers operate as a dipole, reducing the amount of low-frequency energy radiated sideways;

• the dedicated midrange enclosure — the subject of a patent application — extends this control through the region most critical to voices and instruments;

• the coaxial driver and its compression unit maintain the coherence of the acoustic source into the treble.

This consistency of radiation is ultimately more meaningful than an attractive frequency response measured on a single axis. It allows the direct and reflected sound fields to retain a similar balance, resulting in a more stable image, better-defined outlines and a presentation that is less dependent on the acoustics of the listening space.

Vivid, precise and unexpectedly expansive

Bloom does not confuse precision with dryness. Its bass is fast, articulate and considerably deeper than its silhouette would suggest. It gives music genuine weight and scale without overhang or artificial thickness.

The midrange stands out for its clarity and harmonic richness. Voices emerge naturally, instruments retain their substance, and individual layers remain intelligible as arrangements become more complex. The compression driver provides the immediacy and dynamic headroom associated with the finest professional systems, without glare or hardness.

Perhaps Bloom’s most immediately striking quality, however, is its ability to disappear. The soundstage extends far beyond the loudspeakers, with a depth and stability rarely associated with such a compact design. Music breathes, unfolds freely in space and retains its energy at realistic levels as well as during low-volume listening.

Construction in which form follows function

The CNC-formed steel structure is more than an aesthetic statement. Its geometry ensures the precise alignment of each element, while the 8 mm steel base provides stability. A wood insert bonded to the structure contributes to vibration damping.

The crossover, assembled from audio-grade components, is housed beneath a protective glass panel. Silent Pound deliberately reveals an element usually kept out of sight: here, engineering becomes an integral part of the loudspeaker’s visual identity.

With its suspended enclosure, integrated stand and open architecture, Bloom has remarkably little visual mass. It sits within an interior like a contemporary object, without giving the impression that two imposing floorstanders have taken over the room.

Amplification and setup

With a sensitivity of 87 dB and a minimum impedance of 3.4 ohms, Bloom benefits from a high-quality amplifier capable of delivering stable current. Silent Pound recommends between 80 and 300 watts, although an amplifier’s ability to maintain control into a 4-ohm load matters more than its headline power rating alone.

As a starting point, we recommend a symmetrical layout, a listening triangle close to equilateral and a distance of 60 to 100 cm between the rear of the loudspeakers and the wall. Toe-in can then be refined in small increments. Controlled directivity makes integration easier, but careful adjustment reveals the exceptional spatial focus Bloom can achieve.

Finishes

The frame is available in finely textured black or white powder coat. The integrated stand can be specified in natural oak or black-stained ash. Alcantara or leather wraps and custom RAL colours may also be ordered, subject to availability and production lead time.
